Autumn 2017

The musical theatre group presented their first ever show at the end of last term. What an

amazing show it was, finishing to rapturous applause and a standing ovation. Thank you to all the

parents, family and friends for their support. Everyone worked so hard and we are so proud of

each and every student that took part.

Jenny, Viv and I would also like to say a particular thank you to the students Charlotte Kemp and

Ella Richards, who on the day of the show arranged flowers and cards for us from all the students.

This was extremely kind of you to do this. We really don’t expect anything, we just love doing it!

DANCE UNIFORM (With Nicky Bate Logo)

Thank you to everyone who has already purchased items from our new dance school uniform

(uniform list and prices previously e-mailed and hard copy available to view at the hall).

Moving forward to make things easier, we would like to run a trial of placing a bulk order no more

than twice in a term, rather than keep placing small orders as and when requested. You will still

be able to order at any time but will be notified by e-mail when an order is about to be placed.

From now on all our leotards will be Purple in colour and in the styles pictured below. These can

only be purchased direct from the school (please see us for details of sizing).

We are happy for you to continue to wear our previous black leotards and skirts for now, however

new purchases will be required to be one of the above please.

Well done to all those who have taken an exam over the last few terms, we are aiming for one

more exam session to take place at the end of this Autumn term, after which it will be ‘show time’

once again!

We continue to emphasise how important it is that the students practice the exam work at home,

so don’t forget to use the Nicky Bate ‘YouTube’ channel. Please ask if you are unsure on how to

find this. Nicky also runs individual ballet and tap lessons, if anyone would like private tuition at

their home.

Since January we have been running a new ballet class for children from the age of 18 months. It

is a really lovely creative syllabus based around Melody Bear (a dancing bear), that journeys each

week to her Land of Nursery Rhymes. The syllabus is designed to help children’s rhythm, physical

development, co-ordination, concentration, creativity and self expression in a dance format. The

children dance with their parent or carer during the session. This is proving to be a great way to

help the children naturally progress on to the next class we run, called Melody Movement which is

from age 3 upwards.

We currently have six children in the Little Bear Feet class, but would really like it to be build.

Therefore, if you can help to pass on the details of this class to any toddler groups, local nurseries

or friends, that would be brilliant. We have flyers we can give you, please speak to Nicky or Viv.

We have been told that this term the new website will be going live, so please look out for

notification of this.

Examination Success

As you all know during the last year (2016/2017) the school’s focus has been on examinations. We have had four different sessions and the results have been outstanding. We want to thank all students for working so hard, we are so very proud of you.

Every student who took a Grade examination passed with either a Merit or a Distinction.  In the Rosettes and Stardance awards we achieved a 100% pass rate.

We received some lovely feedback about students from the examiners and on our teacher’s reports it was also stated that all students were neatly groomed and well prepared for their examinations.

We have one more exam session towards the end of the year and I know we will achieve the same success again.

Great work everyone teachers and students alike. What a great team we are!
